By June 2024 there had already been 4,793 cases of whooping cough so far, compared to 858 in the whole of 2023.

Whooping cough can be serious for very young babies. If you are pregnant, it’s important to get the whooping cough vaccine to protect your newborn baby, as they are at greatest risk.
